Pastor David Ashmore was born in Leicester, England on July 9, 1952. While growing up in England, David's family was living in what was classified as poverty for their country in a single parent household. David’s mother was best friends with a Church of England minister who dedicated David to the Lord and prophesied that he would be a minister of the Gospel on day. David turned to reading his Bible and found much appreciation for Bible stories from a
pictorial Bible he received one Christmas. While attending church he also found great joy in being in and singing with his local church choir. As his school years continued into High School, he enjoyed school, being in the school choir, and he maintained good grades. His highest grades were in religious education, music, and art. Most of his art classes consisted of artistic work that would be done with your hands. David loved playing soccer during his school years as well.
After graduating from high school David decided to join his mother as she started a new life and the two moved to New Zealand. After living in New Zealand for a year David decided to start a new chapter in his life by moving to Australia with the hope of returning to England to pursue his dreams of becoming a soccer star. This move happened on the same day that Armstrong landed on the moon.
During his time in Australia, David met his wife Helene while working on an apprenticeship in the tile and stone industry. While working in the tile and stone industry David won 3 NATC Magazine awards for his artistic work in the United States of America.
On January 5, 1980 at the Findon Assembly of God church located in Adelaide David gave his heart and soul to the Lord after witnessing a miracle. Later, David would decide that he wanted to pursue ministry work which led to him attending Rhema Bible Training Center on the Gold Coast Queensland, Australia where he graduated in March 1983. After graduation the Lord put a strong calling on his life for missionary work.
David and his wife, Helene, became itinerate missionaries in the Philippines for six and a half years. David found this to be the most fulfilling ministry he had worked. During their time there they worked to meet the needs of the poor and less fortunate population. They had the privilege to see real miracles take place with the community, as well as witnessed many people give their lives to the Lord. It was satisfying to know this community of believers studied and understood God’s word and knew he would protect them. David was grateful that he and his wife were surrounded with God’s protection during this time since they lived in a very dangerous area where they could be encountered by communist insurgents who wanted to take their lives at any time. As part of their missionary work, they had a great pleasure in being able to build a church bible school and day care center for the community. The day care center gave David and his wife the opportunity to see young people graduate which brought great joy to everyone.
In 1991, David felt the Lord’s calling to come to the United States of America where he would serve as pastor for 5 years at Foursquare Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. During this time, David and Helene would also work as a radio disc jockeys on KDAZ AM 73 which was a local Christian Radio station. During his time as a disc jockey David and Helene’s singing became popular in their local community.
In October 1996 after fulfilling his ministry and prospering the church he was pastoring David and his wife decided to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Once in Tulsa, they served at Faith Assembly of God where they were both in charge of the men and women’s ministry. They enjoyed this work until December 2001, when the Lord led them to Church on The Lake in Ketchum, Oklahoma. When they arrived, the church was divided and very heart broken. David spent two and a half years as Pastor of the church and watched the Lord moved in a wonderful way by bringing about great healing and growth to the church. David knew it was a perfect time to hand this restored church over to a local anointed pastor who he knew would continue to grow the church immensely.
David and Helene would come back Tulsa and serve as Sunday School teachers at Eastland Assembly of God. While attending Eastland Assembly of God they occasionally were part of the music ministry by leading praise and worship.
Sadly, Helene Passed away after a massive stroke and congestive heart failure on November 5, 2013.
As we finished 2019 and approached 2020 and our world was stopped by COVID-19 and many churches closed down during this time. While some converted to live streaming their services and doing online tithing to stay afloat, other smaller churches couldn’t afford to stay open so they had to close their doors for good. During this time, David was invited to attend Owasso Assembly of God where he really enjoyed the fellowship.
In September 2021 David was approached after a friend’s mother passed away and he was asked to sing “Go Rest High on that Mountain” for the funeral service which was held at Family Fellowship Church in the Berryhill area of Tulsa, OK. When Family Fellowship was looking for a new pastor at their church David was asked if he would like to come preach and be a possible candidate for their church. David accepted and has been invited to preach on numerous occasions. On January 1, 2023 David was voted the new head Pastor at Family Fellowship Church! David is excited to see what God has in store for this church as we continue to grow!
